If your opponent is within three feet, one's natural tendency is to sit back and wait and see what they will do. One needs to always think about charging the ball and forcing the opponent.
Charge the ball and even if you don't come up with the ball, you force your opponent to move the ball quicker than they would have liked and this pressure leads to mistakes.
